An Open Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Parents, Families and Colleagues,

It is with a sad heart that I announce Rowell Family Empowerment of Northern California did not get our federal Parent Training and Information (PTI) grant. This grant serves parents of children age birth-26, including services to youth after high school in 26 counties. This was our agency’s largest single source of funding for parent-to-parent support.

After 18 years of serving families in Far Northern California the grant was awarded to Warmline Family Resource Center in Sacramento in this most recent competition. Due to this reduction in funding, we are consolidating our services and as of the end of September will operate solely out of our Redding office.

We do have a Family Resource Center contract with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to serve families with babies birth-3 and a Family Empowerment Center grant serving families with children ages 3-22, or until they are out of high school. Be assured that we will still provide quality, relevant and useful support, information and training to families in Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties.

Through a grant from California Department of Education we are still connected with Parent Links, and will continue to serve families in all counties of Northern California who have babies who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Thank you to everybody who continues to support Rowell Family Empowerment!
Sincerely,
